CENTER VALLEY, PA. – DeSales gave Gwynedd Mercy its second-straight shutout loss on Wednesday as the Griffins fell, 5-0, to the Bulldogs in Center Valley.
Gwynedd (1-6) drops their third in a row. The goalie tandem of
Greg Gengaro (Bloomsbury, N.J./Phillipsburg) and
Matt Chilcote (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) combined to make five saves. Chilcote relieved Gengaro late in the first half.
Zach Reichard scored twice while Michael Kirby added a tally and two assists for the Bulldogs (3-3). DeSales scored three times in the first half, all coming in a two-minute span. Reichard netted his first on the day at the 16:48 mark. Kirby would set up Alex DiRenzo for a 2-0 lead less than a minute later. Soon after that, Gengaro and
Kyle Ditsche (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) were issued yellow cards which resulted in a penalty kick in which Kirby scored.
The Griffins will look to stop the slide on Saturday when they head to Widener in an evening start of 7 p.m.
