GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Freshman Jessica Behr (Philadelphia, Pa./MaST Charter) hit a two-run walk-off home run in game two to highlight a Colonial States Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep of Notre Dame of Maryland on Wednesday. The Griffins took game one, 22-2, and the second, 7-5.

Game one saw Gwynedd pound out 17 hits with a bevy of players with multiple hits. After the Gators scored run in their first at-bat, the Griffins would plate nine in theirs and add five in the next frame for a big lead.

Junior Megan Kelly (Ivyland, Pa./Little Flower) and freshman Amanda Hesson (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) each had three hits apiece. Junior Jessica Mower (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) and sophomore Nikki Canfield (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) drove in three runs each while senior  Jennifer Whalen (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) scored four runs. Freshman Tara Matteo (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) would steal four bases.

Whalen stuck out four and walked two while allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits. The game was ended after the top half of the fifth.

In game two, it took a late rally and key hitting to get the sweep. The Gators once again struck early, scoring twice in the first on three walks, no hits and an error. Gwynedd would get one back in the second as Hesson scored from third on a wild pitch with the bases full with two outs. Behr came to the plate and grounded out to first. She would ground out to end the inning with runners on in the fourth and again in the fifth, but would save her biggest hit of the day for last.

Notre Dame (1-7, 0-4 CSAC) would make it 4-1 with two runs in the fifth. Wendi Winkelman hit an RBI double and would later score from third on a double steal.

GMercyU rallied in the bottom half, scoring three runs on four hits highlighted by an RBI double from MaryKate Ballerino (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham). She would later score from an error. With runners on the corners with two outs, senior Ashley Zavatsky (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) beat out a bunt to load the bases. Behr would ground out for the third time of the day.

The Griffins took their first lead, albeit, a brief one in the sixth. Whalen would reach on a leadoff error and get to second. After a single to move up to third, she came home on a groundout from Kelly.

Winkleman added her second RBI double of the day in the seventh to knot things back up. Whalen would get out of a jam later with runners on the corners with a called third strike for the third out.

With a runner on and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Behr got a piece of redemption sending the second pitch of the at-bat over the fence for her first collegiate home run and more importantly, a 7-5 victory.

The Griffins (10-4, 5-1 CSAC) are back at it on Monday when they welcome Baptist Bible for two in a CSAC DH starting at 3 p.m.
