GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy opened their CSAC portion of the schedule with a bang, as eight different players scored in a 10-0 win over Notre Dame of Maryland Saturday afternoon.
The game was originally scheduled to be played in Baltimore at Notre Dame, but moved to Gwynedd Valley.
Sophomore
Brianna O'Connell (Berlin, N.J./Eastern) and freshman
Shannon Carroll (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood) netted two goals apiece while senior
Katie O'Neill (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) added a score and two assists. Sophomore
Melissa Russo (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) also registered a multi-point game, totaling a goal and a helper.
The Griffins (5-4, 1-0 CSAC) scored twice in the first 3:14 for a quick lead. Russo opened the scoring 56 seconds in as she putback her own shot off a save from the Gators' De'Ja Martin. Senior
Megan Senkeleski (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank) got in on the act as she buried home a shot on a penalty corner. GM would tack on three more scores in the period to lead 5-0 at the break.

Stephanie Bacho (Cinnaminson, N.J./Holy Cross), junior
Tori Corbin (New Oxford, Pa./Delone Catholic) and sophomore
Abigail Gabriel (Telford, Pa./Souderton) also scored for Gwynedd.
In goal, sophomore
Samantha Soscia (Lambertville, N.J./South Hunterdon) and rookie
Sarah Crane (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) split a half to help keep the Gators (1-5, 0-2 CSAC) off the board.
Gwynedd Mercy will get right back at it on Tuesday night when they welcome Neumann to continue CSAC play in a 6:30 start.
