GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Field Hockey Team remains undefeated in conference play after taking down Neumann, 4-0, on Tuesday night, improving their record to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in CSAC play.
The Griffins set the pace early in the first half with a strong offensive presence. Senior
Katie O'Neill (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) got Gwynedd on the board first in the 25th minute of play after getting ahold of a loose ball in front of the net for her sixth goal on the year. GM went on to outshoot the Knights, 10-2, and also had a clear advantage in corners at 6-1 going into the break.
Keeping their foot on the gas, Gwynedd went on to score three more goals in the second.
Melissa Russo (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) had back-to-back tallies with her second goal being assisted by O'Neill on a corner giving the sophomore a team-leading 12 goals. Sophomore
Abigail Gabriel (Telford, Pa./Souderton) would cap the scoring in the last two minutes of play for her third tally on the season.
GM would outshoot the Knights by a large margin of 23-4 overall. They also had a clear advantage in corners at 15-3.

Samantha Soscia (Lambertville, N.J./South Hunterdon) made three stops in the win for the Griffins. Becca Wallace closed out the day with 13 saves for Neumann (6-6, 1-2 CSAC).
The Griffins are back in action on Saturday as they continue conference play on the road at Immaculata University. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
