Men's Soccer Upended on Senior Day

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy dropped a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest 4-1 to Immaculata on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.

Prior to the game the Griffins honored their eight seniors: Matt Chilcote (Carlisle, Pa. / Cumberland Valley), Greg Gengaro (Bloomsbury, N.J. / Phillipsburg), Sheldon Fogle (Bensalem, Pa. / Bensalem), Neil Brassell (Huntingdon Valley, Pa. / Father Judge), Seth Lindner (Philadelphia, Pa. / Father Judge), Brandon Rodriguez (Eden, Md. / Parkside), Kyle Ditsche (Philadelphia, Pa. / Father Judge) and Rich Mychack (Philadelphia, Pa. / Father Judge).

In the first half, the Griffins (5-10-1, 2-2-1 CSAC) found themselves trailing 3-0 as Immaculata (6-8, 4-2 CSAC) capitalized with three goals on eight shots. IU's Alex Schuler would net two of the goals. Gwynedd would show some life in the closing moments of the half but were unable to get on the board.

Junior Danny Saba (Dallas, Pa. / Dallas) cut the lead to 3-1 when he found the back of the net off of a free kick.  However, IU swung the momentum back with their fourth goal of the game as Kyle Jumalon would make it 4-1 with an assist from Schuler in the 66th minute.

Gengaro finished with six saves while Immaculata's Joe Lubonski made three.

Gwynedd returns back to action on Tuesday when they travel to Cabrini.  Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
