GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy Men's Soccer team fell 2-0 to Lancaster Bible on a rainy Thursday afternoon.
Midway through the first half, the Chargers' Edward Bills found senior Josiah Groff on the left side of the box to put the Chargers up 1-0 in the 24th minute. Despite all three of their first half shots being on goal, the Griffins could not even the score before the break. LBC outshot Gwynedd, 5-3, in the first and had a clear advantage in corners at 4-0.
Senior Nathan Grimly would add an insurance tally early in the second half scoring off his own rebound to put the chargers up 2-0.
For the game, the Chargers outshot the Griffins, 13-8, overall. Griffin senior keepers
Matt Chilcote (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and
Greg Gengaro (Bloomsbury, N.J./Phillipsburg) each clocked 45 minutes of playing time. Chilcote made one save in the first and Gengaro closed out the game with two stops in the second. Chargers Josue Bosque made eigth stops in the win for Lancaster Bible (4-2-3).
The Griffins (3-8) are back in action this Saturday when they continue conference play as they head up to Marywood University. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
