GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Griffins opened conference play with a big 9-1 win over Notre Dame of Maryland Friday evening.

Juniors Stephanie Bacho (Cinnaminson, N.J./Holy Cross) scored four times while Katie Hickson (Harleysville, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) added a score and three assists, all of which were career highs.

Gwynedd Mercy (5-3, 1-0 CSAC) fired off 52 shots and had 30 penalty corner attempts in their largest offensive output this season. Freshman Melissa Russo (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) added two goals and a helper and junior Katie O'Neill (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) tied a personal best with three assists.

Ashley Fallon netted scored for the Gators (2-4, 0-2 CSAC). Teammate Ariana Hudson made 18 saves in goal.

Senior Brittany Wilson (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) and freshman Abigail Gabriel (Telford, Pa./Souderton) also scored for the Griffins.

GM will return to action on Wednesday, October 1st when they take on William Paterson in Gwynedd Valley in a 7 p.m. start.
