BOX SCOREGWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Cabrini sent Gwynedd Mercy to its sixth defeat in a row as the Griffins fell, 3-0 to the Cavaliers Thursday night at the Griffin Complex in CSAC action. Set scores were 25-16, 25-15, and 25-11.
Gwynedd amassed 19 kills, but added 19 errors on 84 attempts while Cabrini hit 38-14-85 for a .282 percentage.
Sophomore
Laura Kirk (Saegertown, Pa./Maplewood) led GM with six kills (6-8-39) and junior
Lauren Tressel (Pembroke, Ma./Pembroke) Â added five (5-4-18).
Gwynedd would hit .111 (8-5-27) in the first set but go down to a .034 (7-6-29) and a -.143 (4-8-28) in the third.
In that third set, Cabrini's Chelsea Jones service resulted in 13-straight points which opened up a 4-2 lead into a 17-2 advantage. The first set saw Gwynedd (5-11, 1-1 CSAC) score three points in a row early on for a 4-3 edge, but six points from Cabrini turned the tables in which they held the lead the rest of the set.
Nicole Sokolovich led the Cavaliers (10-5, 1-0 CSAC) with a match-high 10 kills. Amy Guarino added nine kills and nine assists.
The Griffins will host Pratt and Wells on Saturday in a tri-match. GM will take on Pratt in the first game at 10 a.m. followed by Pratt and Wells at noon. Wells will do battle with Gwynedd in the final match at 2 p.m. Live stats will be available for all three matches.
