BOX SCOREGWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy won the final two sets to go on and defeat Bryn Athyn in five exciting games, 3-2. Scores were 25-21, 21-25, 18-25, 25-18, and 15-7.
Two nights after surpassing her career high in kills in a five-set win on Tuesday, sophomore
Laura Kirk (Saegertown, Pa./Maplewood) did it again, totaling 13 along with a personal-best 24 digs. Sophomore
Kasey Loring (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) added nine kills and a tied a career high with nine aces, two of which came in the fifth and deciding set.
After taking the first set, the Griffins (4-5) sputtered in the second, falling behind 8-0. Later in the set, a big-time rally ended in a GM point, kickstarting a run to get Gwynedd within striking distance. The Lions would pull away with the final two points to even things at 1-1.
Bryn Athyn would win the third set but Gwynedd answered in the fourth, getting four-straight kills at one point from junior
Lauren Tressel (Pembroke, Ma./Pembroke) to open up a sizable lead.
In the final set to 15, GM kept the hot hand, racing out to a 5-1 lead after a kill from Kirk. Bryn Athyn would pull to 10-7, but Gwynedd would close it out with five-straight points to notch the victory.

Brianna Greer (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) each finished with eight kills.
The Griffins host a tri-match on Saturday, kicking off CSAC play with a game against Centenary at noon. The Cyclones and Rutgers-Camden will battle at 2 p.m. capped off with Gwynedd and the Scarlet Raptors at 4 p.m.
