ROSEMONT, PA. -- The Griffins totaled 27 hits in a doubleheader sweep at Rosemont on Wednesday. Gwynedd Mercy won game one, 14-1, and game two, 5-2.

In the first game, the Griffins totaled a season-high in runs and hits (17). Sophomore Kelsey McDonough (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) sparked the offense going 3-for-5 with a career-high five RBI's while smacking two home runs and scoring twice. Freshman Nikki Canfield (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) also had three hits, two went for doubles and she would score three times. A total of four players had three hits including McDonough, Canfield, Stephanie Farrar (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and Maria Seserko (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll).

GM broke open a 1-0 contest with five runs in the fourth. Farrar would add a two-run single in the fifth to make it 8-0. In the seventh, MaryKate Ballerino (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) hit a two-run homer, McDonough went deep for a three-run shot.

Starter Ashley Lamont (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) drove in three runs on a 2-for-4 stint at the plate. On the mound, she fanned seven while allowing just one run on four hits and a walk.

Game two saw the Ravens plate two runs in the first, only to see the Griffins score five unanswered to complete the sweep.

Farrar's RBI single and Lamont's RBI sac fly in the third put the Griffins on top, 3-2. Ballerino would tack on run in the fourth with a two-out RBI single. Later in the seventh, Farrar would double with two outs, move up to third and score on a wild pitch.

She would go 4-for-4 with a pair of runs scored while Ballerino was 3-for-4 with three stolen bases.

Lamont picked up the win again, yielding two runs on six hits.

The Griffins (9-18, 9-5 CSAC) return to action on Monday with a CSAC twinbill at home against Cabrini at 3 p.m.
