true Cabrini 2, Gwynedd Mercy 1
BOX SCORERADNOR, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy had their nine-game winning streak snapped in a tough 2-1 loss at Cabrini on Wednesday evening in a matchup of two undefeated conference teams. The Griffins now slip to the #2 playoff seed while the Cavaliers claim the #1 seed. The CSAC Tournament gets underway on Wednesday, November 5th.
GM (13-4, 6-1 CSAC) would get on the board first, as freshman
Brianna O'Connell (Berlin, N.J./Eastern) notched her 12th tally of the season with an assist from junior
Stephanie Bacho (Cinnaminson, N.J./Holy Cross). It would stay that way until midway in the second as the Cav's Karlie Gruccio tied it at 1-1.
Gruccio would strike again just over four minutes later and suddenly, Cabrini took the lead. The Griffins had three of their four corners come in the second half, with two in the final two minutes of regulation, but could not find the equalizer.
Senior goalie
Kelly Kruk (Phoenixville, Pa./Methacton) made six saves, with five coming in the second. Taylor Bookman recorded two stops for the Cavaliers. Cabrini (12-3, 7-0 CSAC) would outshoot GM, 14-4.
The Griffins will close out the regular season on Saturday when they welcome #13 (NFHCA) Montclair State in a 2 p.m. start. From there, Gwynedd will host Neumann in a CSAC Tournament Semfinal matchup right here on Wednesday with a time TBA.
