BOX SCORE

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – Cairn gave Gwynedd Mercy a 3-0 defeat, sending the Griffins to their fifth loss in a row. Set scores 25-18, 25-22, and 25-14.

The Griffins (6-19, 1-6 CSAC) posted a season-high in blocks with seven (three solo, four assisted) but only had 76 attacks, their least since September 5th.
Freshman Jessica Behr (Philadelphia, Pa./MaST Charter) had four total blocks, including three solo efforts. Junior Brianna Greer (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) and sophomores  Laura Kirk (Saegertown, Pa./Maplewood) and Rachael Hall (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) all had two block assists. Kirk would lead the offense with six kills.

Kate Steger racked up a match-high 15 kills while teammate Brigid Shehan added 12. Steger also chipped in four blocks (two solo).

Steger had two kills as part of a four-point run in the first set to give the Highlanders (9-14, 4-2 CSACS) an 18-12 lead. She would again be instrumental in a four-point swing in the second as a kill and a part of two blocks helped start a four-point stretch to give Cairn a 19-16 lead, to which they would not relinquish to go up 2-0. In the third set, 10 straight points early on put the Griffins in a hole they could not dig out of.

For the game, Gwynedd hit 17-16-76 (.013) while Cairn was 40-15-94 (.266).

The Griffins will get right back at it on Thursday when they host Albright in a non-conference matchup starting at 6 p.m.
