SCRANTON, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy Women's Field Hockey Team traveled up the northeast extension Saturday to take on CSAC foe Marywood and came back home with a 3-1 victory under their belt for their fifth win in a row.

The victory marks the Griffins seventh-straight CSAC road victory and keeping them undefeated in Colonial States Athletic Conference action as well.

Freshman Brianna O'Connell (Berlin, N.J. / Eastern) led the Griffins (9-3, 2-0 CSAC) with a pair of goals on the afternoon.  Junior Stephanie Bacho (Cinnaminson, N.J. / Holy Cross) added the game winner to put GM up with just under seven minutes remaining in the first half. Katie O'Neill (Newtown, Pa. / Council Rock North) and Melissa Russo (Saylorsburg, Pa. / Pleasant Valley) each added assists.

O'Connell found the back of the cage to put Gwynedd up 1-0 when she snuck the ball in between the goalies pads on an assist by Russo. The Pacers (5-7, 1-3 CSAC) would respond when Leanne McManus tied the contest 1-1 at the 24:37 mark in the first half.  Bacho would put GM back on top for good when she buried a pass from O'Neill to give the Griffins a 2-1 lead heading into the half.

O'Connell would add the insurance goal in the second stanza with her second of the game.

Freshman Samantha Soscia (Lambertville, N.J. / South Hunterdon) recorded her first collegiate win in her first start stopping five pacers shots.  Kayle Huey made 27 saves for Marywood.

The Griffins return home Tuesday looking to extend their winning streak when Cedar Crest comes to town at 7 p.m. Tuesday's game will also be the Play 4 the Cure game. Fans are asked to wear pink.
