ALLENTOWN, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy pounded out 35 hits in sweeping Cedar Crest on Wednesday in CSAC action. The Griffins took game one, 7-0, and exploded for a 22-0 win in game two.

In game one, sophomore Kaitlyn Johnson (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley) went the distance, striking out four with just two walks and three hits.

Offensively, Kelsey McDonough (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) and Megan Kelly (Ivyland, Pa./Little Flower) each had three hits apiece. McDonough drove in two runs while Kelly was a home run shy of the cycle.

The Griffins (18-12, 16-4 CSAC) would score four in the third and one each in the fourth, fifth and sixth. It was more than enough for Johnson, who didn't allow a runner past second base.

Game two saw the bats come alive for 22 runs on 21 hits, sparked by Ashley Lamont (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) who was 4-for-4 with four runs, two homers, a double, and seven RBIs. McDonough also was 4-for-4 with four runs and three driven in and a home run.

Lamont went deep for a grand slam in the third and a three-run shot in the fourth. McDonough would follow with a solo shot in the next at-bat.

Jennifer Whalen (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) was 3-for-5  with a pair of RBI's and three runs scored.

The Griffins host Immaculata on Saturday in the regular season finale at noon. At stake is a possible #2 seed and a first-round bye in next week's conference tournament.
