SCRANTON, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy swept a CSAC Doubleheader at Marywood on Sunday for the first time since the 2005 season. The Griffins posted a 2-0 win in game one and a 3-2 squeaker in game two.

GM had just two hits in game one, both by junior Stephanie Farrar (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and both scored the only runs in the contest. Her RBI double in the first put the Griffins up 1-0. She would later lead off the seventh with her team-leading fifth home run.

Starter Ashley Lamont (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) scattered five hits while striking out six to record her third shutout on the season. She would not allow a runner past second base in the win.

In game two, junior Katlin Nuscis (Wildwood, N.J./Chichester Pa.) drove in freshman Ave Bolli (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) with an RBI groundout in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead.

Lamont made it stand up as she picked up her second win on the day. She yielded five hits, as both runs were unearned with four K's and one walk. After her RBI single in the first, the Pacers countered with two runs on two hits and an error to take a 2-1 lead.

Farrar would strike again in the third, driving in her third run on the day, this time with an RBI single to center.

The Griffin defense would get Lamont out of a jam in the fourth, turning a double play with runners on first and second.  In the sixth with one out, Bolli reached on a walk, steal second and eventually move to third on a passed ball. Nuscis would ground out to third, enabling Bolli to cross home with the eventual winning run.

Bolli reached base in all three plate appearances, officially going 1-for-1 with a pair of walks.

Gwynedd-Mercy, on the cusp of a playoff berth, can move closer to a first-round playoff bye when they travel to Cedar Crest on Wednesday.
