GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – Freshman Megan Kelly (Ivyland, Pa./Little Flower) had a walk-off RBI single to highlight a doubleheader split with Arcadia on Thursday. Her hit capped a two-run inning as the Griffins won game two, 4-3. The Knights broke open a tie game to go on and win game one, 13-4.

Ashley Lamont (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) did it with the glove and the bat, as the freshman scattered eight hits with just two earned runs, two walks, and two strikeouts. She also went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, including a big run-scoring triple in the sixth.

Her RBI single in the first allowed Jennifer Whalen (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) to score to tie it up at 1-1. After Lamont yielded two runs in the third to go down, 3-1, junior Stephanie Farrar (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) would connect on her third home run on the season, a solo shot to right, and it was a suddenly a one-run game. Lamont would get out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth and settle in and allow just one baserunner the rest of the way.

Farrar led off the sixth with a single and would score on Lamont's triple that skirted down the right field line. That set the stage for Kelly, who singled right under AU pitcher Sarah Falcon's glove to score pinch-runner Hillary Ware (Hedgesville, WVa./Hedgesville) to win it.

Falcon surrendered four runs on eight hits with four K's. Teammate Brandee Zablotsky had two RBI's along with a triple.

In game one, the Knights took advantage of two Griffin errors in the fourth to break a 4-4 tie.

Arcadia (5-9) jumped ahead early, plating three runs on two hits and two GM errors in the first. The Griffins (3-9) answered with RBI singles from Kelsey McDonough (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) and Avé Bolli (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) to make it 3-2.

After an Arcadia run off a wild pitch in the second, the Griffins scored twice in the third and almost had more but with the bases loaded, Ware grounded out to the pitcher.

In the fourth with a runner at first and one out, Sara Boyadjis hit a potential double play ball to second, but the throw to Kelly covering was misplayed, allowing the runners to move to second and third. On the very next batter, Kelly's throw to first on a grounder got away from McDonough, allowing both runners to score.

Boyadjis then helped the Knights break it open in the fifth with her bases-loaded clearing double to right to cap a four-run frame. She went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI's. Teammate Amanda Tomaschek had two hits and scored four times.

Starter Kaitlyn Johnson (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley) took the loss, giving up 11 runs (five earned) on seven hits.

Offensively, Kelly was a perfect 4-for-4 while Bolli was 3-for-4 with two runs batted in.

Gwynedd-Mercy is off until Tuesday when they play at Cabrinin in CSAC action starting at 3 p.m.
