The big inning came in the third, as Gwynedd-Mercy plated seven runs on six hits and took advantage of three Highlander errors. Junior

She didn't allow a hit until the fourth and struck out the side on three occasions. Johnson also contributed at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Whalen kept the hot bats going, notching two more doubles with two runs and an RBI. Freshman

Three-straight hits to open the third led to a five-run frame.
Marisa Bentley (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone) added a two-run triple in the fifth to up it to a 7-0 lead.
Cairn would get to Johnson in the sixth as a pair of GM errors along with two hits helped the Highlanders (0-11, 0-6 CSAC) climb to within 7-3. Johnson got out of the frame with a groundout and called third strike with a runner on.
GM would add some insurance runs in the sixth getting an RBI groundout from Deal and later a two-out RBI single from Farrar for a 9-3 edge.
Johnson closed it out with a 1-2-3 seventh all via strikeout to wrap up the sweep.
The Griffins return to action on Thursday, March 28th when they host Arcadia. The DH with Scranton originally scheduled for March 26th has been postponed due to the impending inclement weather.
