BOX SCORE

Dani Horn scored twice for the Griffins

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Lycoming defeated Gwynedd-Mercy, 14-3, in a shortened, snowy affair on Saturday. The game was called with 10:07 remaining due to the increasing snow that was gathering on the field.

Sophomore Dani Horn (Colmar, Pa./North Penn) had two of the team's three goals. Freshman Danae Perrymond (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) added the other as the Warriors broke open a close game midway through the first half.
Perrymond also had three caused turnovers and three groundballs, both team highs.

Early on, both teams had trouble getting things going offensively. The game's first goal finally came almost 10 minutes in as Lycoming's Erin Cieniewicz made it 1-0 off a free position shot. After Savannah Fox's unassisted tally at the 15:00 mark, the Warriors (2-3) then added six more goals over a seven-minute span to lead 8-0.

Horn scored the first of her two goals with 3:42 remaining. Her second came with just 16 seconds before halftime, but Lycoming answered with one more tally with four ticks to lead 11-2 at the break.

The snow and sleet picked up in the second half making conditions that much tougher for GM to overcome. The referees convened after a stoppage and declared the game final at the 10:07 mark.

Maureen Heagy had three goals for LC. Cieniewicz, Fox, Sarah Quigley, and Brooke Strausser each had two.

Marina Hubbard (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) recorded eight saves in goal for GM (2-2). Lycoming goalie Lauren Reitnouer made seven.

Gwynedd-Mercy returns to action on Wednesday with a CSAC matchup at Cedar Crest starting at 4 p.m.
