ASTON, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy dropped a CSAC Doubleheader at Neumann on Friday, falling in game one, 7-3, and the second, 8-0.

Game one saw the Knights score runs in the first three innings to lead 5-0. The Griffins (0-8, 0-2 CSAC) got on the board in the sixth, plating a run off an error. Trailing 7-1 going into the seventh, Gwynedd looked to rally as a leadoff home run from junior Stephanie Farrar (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) followed by two-straight singles put GM in business.

Later with the bases full, new pitcher Kristin Beaty hit Maria Seserko (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) to force in another run for a 7-3 score and just one out. Beaty was able to get a foul out and called third strike to end it.

Farrar was officially 1-for-3. Jennifer Whalen (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) took the loss.

Becca Reinhart went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI's for Neumann.

In game two, a close contest was opened up late as the Knights (4-8, 2-0 CSAC) plated six runs in the sixth to complete the DH sweep.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Johnson (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley) suffered the loss, allowing eight runs on 11 hits.

Gwynedd had plenty of chances to take the lead early on, but could not capitalize.GM had the bases loaded in the first and second innings and runners on second and third in the third, but could not draw first blood. The Griffins left a total of 13 runners left on base.

Neumann used a sac fly for a run in the third and a RBI single in the fifth to lead 2-0. The Knights used three-straight hits to open the sixth to go on and score six runs. Callie Emel's two-run triple made it 8-0 and enforced the eight-run rule.

Whalen had two of the team's five hits. Farrar and Ashley Lamont (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) also reached base twice.

Gwynedd-Mercy's originally scheduled DH with Keystone for tomorrow has been pushed back to Sunday, March 17th with a new start of 1 p.m.
