IMMACULATA, PA. -- With a 3-0 win at Immaculata on Wednesday, the Gwynedd Mercy Field Hockey Team secured the #2 playoff seed and a home game next Wednesday night.
Their opponent just happens to be the same Mighty Macs, who fell into the #3 seed. Fourth-seeded Neumann will play at top-seeded Cabrini in the other semifinal.
Goalie
Kelly Kruk (Phoenixville, Pa./Methacton) made 12 saves to earn her fifth shutout this season, and 15th of her career. The junior made 10 her saves in the second half, as IU blasted off 14 shots.
Junior
Brittany Wilson (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) notched a goal and an assist while sophomore
Stephanie Bacho (Cinnaminson, N.J./Holy Cross) and senior
Maria Karidas (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) also scored for the Griffins (10-7, 6-1 CSAC). For Karidas, it was her league-leading 20th tally of the season, which ties her own single-season mark.
For the game, GM outshot the Mighty Macs (6-12, 4-3 CSAC), 22-18, and had a 14-8 penalty corner advantage.
Christine McIntyre and Sarah Pasternack combined to make 11 stops for Immaculata.
Gwynedd Mercy caps off the regular season this Saturday with a big task of taking on top-ranked (NFHCA) Montclair State in Upper Montclair, N.J. at 1 p.m.
