BOX SCORE

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Griffin Field Hockey Team won a 4-3 overtime thriller on Tuesday afternoon when Stephanie Bacho (Cinnaminson, N.J. / Holy Cross) scored the game winner on an assist from Brittany Wilson (Huntingdon Valley, Pa. / Lower Moreland) to cap a two-goal comeback.

Gwynedd found themselves in an early 2-0 deficit after Neumann goals by Lindsey Spatola and Jess Harrell in the game's first 13 minutes. The Griffins would rally back when Brianne Kline (York, Pa. / Central York) found Maria Karidas (Richboro, Pa. / Council Rock South) on a penalty corner to cut the deficit to 2-1. Three minutes later, Karidas would tack on her second score of the half this time burying home a penalty stroke to knot up the contest 2-2 heading into the halftime break.

Both teams played an even second half until Jordan Hopkins put the Knights back on top 3-2 at the 53:54 mark to take some momentum back on their side. However Karidas still had magic up her sleeve when she would complete her hat trick with her goal with just under four minutes remaining in regulation

Bacho would be the overtime hero, scoring her first career overtime goal, when she buried a putback after the ball was sent in the circle by Wilson with 2:11 left in the first extra session.

Sophomore goalie Kelly Kruk (Phoenixville, Pa. / Methacton) recorded two saves on the day and her backline mates recorded four defensive saves to preserve the victory. Lindsey Kasecamp stopped 12 shots for Neumann and also received two defensive save from her backline.

It is the seventh career hat trick for Karidas.

The Griffins return back to action on Saturday hosting Marywood. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. With a win, GM can officially clinch a playoff berth.
