BOX SCORE
GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Cabrini defeated Gwynedd Mercy, 4-2, on Wednesday night in a rematch of last year's CSAC Championship game.
Erin McLaughlin scored twice as the Cavaliers (6-6, 4-0 CSAC) snapped the Griffin's 17-game CSAC home winning streak.
Cabrini scored first when Kerry Anne Farrell tallied off of a deflection in the crease to take the 1-0 lead. The Griffins would respond in less than a minute when
Stephanie Bacho (Cinnaminson, N.J. / Holy Cross) buried her shot in the back of the net at the 11:39 mark to tie the contest at 1-1. It was the sophomore's sixth score on the season.
However, McLaughlin scored on a breakaway to take the lead into the halftime break.
After Taylor Mack put the Cavaliers up 3-1 when she put back her own rebound in the goal crease, the Griffins responded fifty seven seconds later as sophomore
Katie Hickson (Harleysville, Pa. / Lansdale Catholic) tallied her fourth goal of the year at the 52:59 mark.
McLaughlin would add an insurance scoring her second goal of the night to give Cabrini the lead for good and the 4-2 Victory.
Junior
Kelly Kruk (Phoenixville, Pa. / Methacton) recorded five saves for the Griffins. Her counterpart Genevieve Paulin stopped nine shot for the Cavaliers.
The last home regular-season conference loss was to the same Cabrini team back on October 24, 2009.
