Gwynedd Mercy 5, Keystone 0
BOX SCORE
GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Three goals from senior
Maria Karidas (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) and nine saves from goalie
Kelly Kruk (Phoenixville, Pa./Methacton) sparked Gwynedd Mercy to a 5-0 shutout win over visiting Keystone on Saturday in a Colonial States Athletic Conference game.
Karidas, who netted her fifth career hat trick, scored the game's first three tallies to help put the Griffins (6-6, 2-0 CSAC) back at the .500 mark. Kruk notched her third shutout of the season and the 13th of her career by making nine stops.
At the 31:25 mark of the first, Karidas would put GM on top 1-0 as she beautifully redirected a pass from the left sideline up and over the glove of Keystone goalie Nichole Blank. Junior
Brittany Wilson (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) recorded the assist. Karidas would strike again in the first, finishing a shot off the post with 11:19 before the half. 10 minutes into the second, Karidas would complete the natural hat trick by scoring on a breakaway.
Sophomores
Katie O'Neill (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) and
Katie Hickson (Harleysville, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) would add goals later in the stanza to round out the scoring.
Blank finished with eight saves for the Giants (2-10, 0-2 CSAC). GM would outshoot Keystone, 23-12.
Gwynedd Mercy returns to action on Wednesday when they host Cabrini at 6 p.m. in a rematch of the last two conference championship games.
