BOX SCORE

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy continued their winning ways defeating William Paterson on Saturday afternoon, 2-0, to secure their third victory in a row. Sophomore goalie Kelly Kruk (Phoenixville, Pa./Methacton) recorded eight saves for her first shutout on the year.

The Griffins (6-2) used two first-half goals and a strong defensive effort in the second to help secure the victory.  GM got on the board early at the 5:41 mark on a goal from junior Caitlin Donohue (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) with an assist from junior Sarah Jackson (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp).

Jackson later in the half gave Gwynedd a huge momentum push going into the break with a goal with just seven seconds left in the stanza on a great pass from fellow junior Maria Karidas (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South).

GM defense held strong for the final thirty five minutes keyed on by Kruk, who stood on her had again as she made six saves in the stanza for the Griffins. Her counterpart Kellye Statz recorded three saves for the Pioneers.

William Paterson (2-7) outshot the Griffins, 14-8, and held an 11-6 penalty corner advantage.

The Griffins begin CSAC play this week traveling to Keystone on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. start.
