GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – Gwynedd-Mercy knocked off Cheyney, 3-0, for the Griffins first win and first victory for first-year head coach Tim Kilian. Game scores were 25, 9, 25-16, and 25-19.

The Griffins totaled 39 kills while owning a hitting percentage of .359 (39-9-64). Junior Michelle Carrieri (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) led all attackers with nine kills. In all, GM had five or more players finish with at least five kills.

Gwynedd also recorded a season-high 13 service aces, six of which came from senior Ariana Richards (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe).

The Wolves (0-4) generated just 10 kills. Katherine Brooks recorded four for Cheyney.

GM led from start to finish in each set, but had to hold off a late rally from the Wolves to clinch the win.

Gwynedd-Mercy will play at Bryn Athyn College on Thursday in a 7 p.m. start.
