GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – The defending CSAC Champion Gwynedd-Mercy College Griffins will be travelling to Christopher Newport University to take on the Captains on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in a first-round NCAA Tournament Game as the pairings were released late Sunday night.

CNU (16-1), ranked #8 by the NFCHA, enters the tournament as a Pool B selection as the Captains are not in a field hockey playing conference and play as an independent. They'll be making their seventh-straight appearance in the tournament.

The Griffins (15-5) captured the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship for the second year in a row on Saturday to punch their ticket.

Wednesday's winner will move on to face Montclair State on Saturday at Salisbury University. The Sea Gulls are one of the hosts for the regional rounds that take place on November 10th and 11th. The Final Four of the 2012 NCAA Division III Tournament will be hosted by William Smith College in Geneva, New York. The semifinals will take place on November 17th. The championship game will be held the following afternoon.
