true Gwynedd-Mercy 3, DeSales 0
BOX SCORE
GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Despite a driving second-half rain, Gwynedd-Mercy was tougher than the weather in a 3-0 non-league win over DeSales Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman goalie
Kelly Kruk (Phoenixville, Pa./Methacton) picked up her first career shutout.
Gwynedd was in charge of the offense, registering a 27-5 shot edge while compiling 14 penalty corners.
It looked to be a scoreless first half, but sophomore
Maria Karidas (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) converted on a penalty corner in extra time lifting the Griffins (2-1) to a 1-0 lead at the break.
As the rain picked up to start the second, so did the scoring. Freshman
Brooke Stretch (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast) netted her first career tally just 1:55 into the stanza.
Later in the period, GM worked the penalty corner to perfection again, as senior
Casey Dellostretto (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) converted in the 65th minute.
Junior
Kelsey Deveney (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) notched two helpers, assisting on both penalty corner tallies.
Victoria DelToro recorded 14 saves for the Bulldogs (0-2).
The Griffins return to action on Saturday when they visit Alvernia beginning at 11 a.m.
