BALTIMORE, MD. -- Behind a hat trick from sophomore Sarah Jackson (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.), Gwynedd-Mercy won its CSAC opener, defeating Notre Dame, 8-1, Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Casey Dellostretto (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Morelan) added two scores as a total of five Griffins found the back of the net.

Gwynedd (4-3, 1-0 CSAC) struck first as Jackson netted a goal at the 14:37 mark. Just over two minutes later, the Gators were able to convert on a penalty corner to tie it at 1-1.

Jackson then tallied two more first-half scores, sandwiching a tally from Dellostretto to find themselves up 4-1 at the half.

Senior Christine Hammitt (Delran, N.J./Delran), junior Kelsey Deveney (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail), and sophomore Charlsie Moore (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) and Dellostretto all added second half goals for the Griffins.

Junior Erin Gorenflo (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) had two assists. Jackson and Moore also had one each.

Molly Murray had the lone goal for the Gators (1-3, 0-2 CSAC).

The Griffins are back in action on Saturday morning when they take on Marywood with an early start time of 10 a.m.
