GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Misericordia handed Gwynedd-Mercy a 3-1 defeat to spoil the Griffin's season opener Thursday night.

Game scores were 25-18, 25-22, 21-25, and 25-13.

As a team, Gwynedd totaled 28 kills but committed 24 errors. Senior Aileen Reilly (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) notched a team-high nine while adding 13 digs. Senior Kristina Schneider (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) added four kills, four blocks (one solo) and two service aces.

Despite dropping a close second set, and notching a win in third, the Griffins got off to a slow start in the fourth, falling behind 9-2.

The Cougar's Krystal Burford recorded five solo blocks, four kills, and two aces.

Gwynedd-Mercy returns to action tomorrow when they play Ursinus and Moravian at the Greyhound Premiere Tournament at Moravian. They'll also play two more times on Sunday.
