RADNOR, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy went extra innings in game two to earn a split in a CSAC doubleheader at Cabrini on Saturday. The Griffins were stifled in game one, 1-0, but used a grand slam in the top of the eighth to win the second, 7-3.

Game two saw the Griffins go deep three times, including two from freshman Stephanie Farrar (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and one from sophomore Tegan Wendell (Glenside, Pa./Abington). Wendell's was the biggest of the bunch as her grand slam put the Griffins ahead.

GM (6-15, 4-8 CSAC) led 3-2 but the Cavaliers were able to tie it in their last at-bat in the seventh on an RBI single.

Farrar finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Her two-run shot in the first staked the Grififns to a 2-0 lead. After the Cavs crossed a run in the second, she went deep on a solo shot in the third to make it 3-1.

Cabrini got that run back in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single and would later tie the game in the seventh.

Wendell also started on the mound and went four innings, allowing one earned run on five hits with four K's. Senior Heather Morgan (Audubon, N.J./Audubon) came on and struck out five over the next four innings to earn the win.

Morgan also started game one, where she nicely threw six scoreless innings before allowing a run in the bottom of the sixth. She yielded five hits with six strikeouts.

GM had two solid chances to score the first coming in the second as a leadoff single was moved up on a groundout and passed ball, but would be stranded with a grounder to third. The second came in the sixth as Wendell hit a two-out double but was left there as the inning ended on strikeout.

The Griffins get back at it on Tuesday with a makeup DH with Philadelphia Biblical here starting at 3 p.m.
