GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy finished off an impressive regular season by defeating Rosemont, 81-64, in a CSAC contest Thursday night on Senior Night.
The Griffins' three senior captains made the most of their last regular-season contest at the Griffin complex, combining for 40 of the team's 81 points.
Jon Crabtree (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) led all scorers with 22 points,
Jon Hogga (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) finished with 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, and
Brian Haas (North Wildwood, N.J./Wildwood Catholic) added six points and four boards on the night.
After taking a 44-31 lead at the break, the Griffins started the second half on a 10-2 run to push the lead to 21 points with just over 14 minutes left to play. Gwynedd would lead by as much as 26 in the second half.
Gwynedd (20-5, 15-3 CSAC) dominated the boards all night, finishing with a 45-24 edge in rebounds over the Ravens (7-18, 5-13 CSAC). The Griffins also got contributions from their entire bench, which scored 32 points in the victory. Freshman
Brandyn Wims (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) added 13 off the bench and
Doug Berzins (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) chipped in eight points, all coming in the first half.
Harrison Carsillo and Greg Gardner both finished with 16 points for the Ravens and Justin Chaney dished out a game-high nine assists to go with his 15 points.
Gwynedd, who clinched the #2 seed in the CSAC Playoffs, finish the regular season with an 11-1 record at home. They will look to continue their dominance at the Griffin Complex Tuesday night when they host a semi-final matchup beginning at 7 p.m.
