2011 CSAC Tournament Semifinal

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy will be making is second-straight appearance in the conference championship after a 3-1 win over Immaculata in semifinal action of the 2011 CSAC Field Hockey Tournament Wednesday night.
With the victory, Gwynedd will host #2 seeded Cabrini in the CSAC Championship here on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Cavaliers were 3-2 winners over Neumann in the other semifinal.
Sophomores
Sarah Jackson (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) and
Maria Karidas (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) each had a goal and an assist as the top-seeded Griffins (15-4) outshot IU, 26-7.
Karidas struck in the 16th minute as she jammed in a penalty corner for her team-leading 19th goal on the season. It was 2-0 seven minutes later as Jackson put in a goal off a shot from Karidas, giving GM a 2-0 lead at the half.
Jackson assisted on the third goal in the 56th minute as freshman
Brittany Wilson (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) seemingly put Gwynedd up for good with a 3-0 lead.
The fourth-seeded Mighty Macs (8-11) didn't go quietly, scoring on a penalty corner of their own from Kristen Yoder two minutes after Wilson's tally.
Sophomore
Erin Magee (Lindenwold, N.J./Paul VI) made a key defensive play, as she would later in the half race back on an IU breakaway to snuff out a possible scoring chance for Immaculata.
Natalie Slezak recorded 17 saves for the Mighty Macs. Freshman
Kelly Kruk (Phoenixville, Pa./Methacton) made two second-half saves for GM.
