SELINSGROVE, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy had their 10-game win streak snapped as Susquehanna scored two goals in the last 12:11 of regulation to hand the Griffins a 2-1 non-league defeat Tuesday night.
The Griffins (13-4) got a first-half tally from sophomore
Charlsie Moore (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) in the 28th minute with an assist from senior
Casey Dellostretto (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland). It looked to be all Gwynedd, as GM outshot the Crusaders, 12-5, and had eight penalty corners.
In a four minute span later in the second, Susquehanna (5-11) tied it and took a one-goal lead. SU's Heather Moore put the Crusaders on top for good with 8:21 left in the contest.
Freshman
Kelly Kruk (Phoenixville, Pa./Methacton) made six saves in goal. Margaret Ruth recorded 10.
It was the first loss since a 3-2 OT defeat at Richard Stockton on September 15th.
Gwynedd-Mercy plays its regular-season finale at Immaculata on Friday in CSAC action. GM has clinched the top playoff seed and will host a semifinal game here on Wednesday, November 2nd at 7 p.m.
