LAPLUME, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy hit a season best .342 (36-9-79) in a 3-0 CSAC win at Keystone Tuesday night. Game scores were 25-16, 25-11, and 25-20.
The 36 kills were also the second-most this year as the Griffins (6-12, 3-4 CSAC) remain in the hunt for a playoff spot.
Freshman
Cailin Westerfer (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) quarterbacked the offense, registering a season-best 32 assists. 22 of those assists came from 11 kills each respectively from seniors
Aileen Reilly (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) and
Rachel Lambert (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West).
Lambert added five aces and four blocks (two solo). Sophomore
Stephanie Farrar (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) chipped in seven kills.
Shelby Morgan paced the Giants (2-14, 0-8 CSAC) with seven kills.
The Griffins, currently one spot out of a playoff berth sitting in seventh place with four league games to play, will have their hands full in their next two matches as they take on last years' runner-up Baptist Bible at home on Thursday at 7 p.m. followed by a visit to defending champions Cabrini next Wednesday, October 19th.
