GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy defeated Centenary, 3-0, Thursday night in CSAC action to seemingly keep their playoff hopes alive, but those aspirations came up short as a Notre Dame victory eliminated the Griffins from postseason play.

Gwynedd needed two wins and a Notre Dame loss to secure the sixth and final seed, but the Gators took out Immaculata tonight to end GM's playoff push. Both Notre Dame and playoff-contending Philadelphia Biblical hold the tie-breakers over the Griffins due to regular season victories.

After two close matches in the first two sets, the Griffins (7-22, 5-5 CSAC) opened up a 13-3 lead in the third and did not look back.

Rachel Lambert (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown) notched her third-straight double-digit kill performance, racking up a team-high 14. The junior also added nine digs, and five solo blocks.

Devon Paffendorf recorded a match-high 16 kills for Centenary (10-22, 5-5 CSAC), who's playoff push also took a hit.

The Griffins will close out the season this weekend in a tri-match at CSAC foe Baptist Bible along with Houghton.
