Rich Comly enters his third season at the helm of the Gwynedd-Mercy College Volleyball program. In his first season, he guided the Griffins to a playoff spot. Last season's team had more bumps in the road but the outlook for the 2009 season looks bright.
Comly has over 10 years of experience at the high school, collegiate, and Junior Olympic levels.
Most recently, he was the head coach at Perkiomen Valley High School where his teams improved on their win total, while helping mentor three players named all-conference and others who went on to play at the collegiate level.
He previously held positions as head coach at Chestnut Hill College where he was named the 2003 AWCC Coach of the Year as the Griffins tripled the amount of wins from the previous year. He also spent time at Division II Philadelphia University.
Among coaching various local club teams and running clinics, Comly spearheads Del-Val Junior Volleyball of Lansdale where he is in charge of all aspects of the team. Since 2004, he has expanded the program from two teams and two coaches to seven teams and over 15 coaches where its players have gone on to play at many Division I, II, and III institutions. Comly also was coach and assistant club director of the Liberty Belles VB Club of Bryn Athyn.
