Mercedes Himmons came to the Gwynedd Mercy University athletic training staff in September 2015. Her primary sport responsibilities include women’s soccer, cross country, indoor track, outdoor track, women’s lacrosse, and cheerleading.
Mercedes completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at California University of Pennsylvania (Cal U) in 2010 and 2011, respectively. While at Cal U, she had the opportunity to work with the 2008 Women’s Volleyball team that made it to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight. In 2007, Mercedes interned at Thomas Jefferson High School (TJ) during their undefeated football season where they won the state championship at Hershey Stadium.
Before arriving at Gwynedd Mercy, Mercedes was the athletic trainer at St. Hubert’s Catholic High School for the 2014-2015 school year. Prior to St. Hubert’s, she was the head athletic trainer at Arcadia University, where she aided the men’s soccer, swimming, and women’s lacrosse teams. Mercedes had the honor of being a part of the 2014 women’s lacrosse team that hosted and made it to the first round of the NCAA Division III championship.
While she is an athletic trainer, Mercedes is also a Corrective Exercise Specialist (NASM) and a Performance Enhancement Specialist (NASM). She was an Emergency Medical Technician for three years.
Mercedes is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and volunteers time in the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers’ Society (PATS). She is currently pursuing her PhD in Instructional Management and Leadership at Robert Morris University.
