Jason Peterson is entering his third season at Gwynedd-Mercy. Peterson, a 2002 graduate of Neumann University with a degree in Communications, began his playing career at the Community College of Philadelphia and then onto Neumann where he played for Coach Brian Nugent. Jason’s 2001 and 2002 Neumann team earned them the school’s first ever playoff appearance and win, first championship game appearance, first win against nationally ranked DII West Chester University (13th), and set a school record for wins in a season (21).
Jason’s coaching career began soon after graduation in 2003 as an assistant coach at Delaware Valley College for five seasons. While coaching at Delaware Valley, Jason’s primary responsibilities included recruiting, practice management, and bench coaching. “Coach Peterson works well with our players and he has done a great job helping our new players transition to the college environment,” said head Coach John Baron.
Here at Gwynedd, coach Peterson's responsibilities include recruiting, position coaching, game day management, and monthly team newsletter. Jason continues to spend countless hours promoting and teaching fundamental basketball skills to youth of all ages within the Philadelphia region at summer camps and local YMCA’s.
Jason is currently on course to graduate from Neumann University earning his Masters in Science in Strategic Leadership. Coach Peterson is engaged to Erin Crawford and has an eight year old step-daughter name Ava.
