Emily Hegen joined the Gwynedd Mercy University Athletic Communications Office as an intern prior to the 2024 fall semester. In this role, she will assist the Athletic Communications Office in daily tasks, including the generation of imagery and video content for its various athletic social media accounts, managing and utilizing departmental archives for University promotions, statistical tracking for home events, and broadcast development. Hegen previously served as a graduate assistant in the East Stroudsburg University Sport Management Department from August, 2023, to May, 2024, and fulfilled an undergraduate internship at Central Bucks High School West during the spring semester of 2023.

Hegen earned her bachelor’s degree in sport management with a minor in communications from East Stroudsburg University in 2023. During that time, she was a peer mentor for entry-level sport and business management classes. She was accepted into the accelerated pathways program during her junior year (2022), allowing her to progress into the master’s program that spring. Currently enrolled in East Stroudsburg University’s management and leadership in sport business graduate program, Hegen is on pace to complete her master’s degree in December, 2024. In her role as a graduate assistant, she collaborated with professors on administrative work, program marketing, and content for the department’s social media platforms. Hegen also assisted in the publication of the semesterly newsletter, as well as the planning, managing, and organizing departmental events.

Hegen is a native of Perkasie, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Pennridge High School in 2019.
