Coach Bono joins the Gwynedd Men’s and Women’s soccer staff in 2021 after spending the past 3 years as the head girl’s soccer coach at Pope John Paul HS. Bono was an all conference captain at Cabrini when his team won 3 conference championships in a row without a loss in league play.
Coach Bono brings a wealth of knowledge to the Griffin staff through his decorated playing career. In high school he competed in the Philadelphia Catholic League (PCL) at Bishop Kenrick High School where he was the Varsity soccer captain ’89 & ‘90 and PCL All-Catholic ’89 & ‘90.
Bono was also awarded the prestigious Athlete of the Year, Bishop Kenrick in1991.
He was involved with TEAMS USA, ’89 & ’90 and trained USA & Holland. He had the opportunity to play cups in Scotland, Sweden & Denmark.
After high school he competed at Mount Saint Mary’s University, Division I Varsity Soccer and started 12 games as a freshman.
He finished up his playing career at Cabrini University, Division III Varsity Soccer, ’93, ’94 & ‘95 where he helped them win the PAC Championship all three years. He was Varsity Soccer Captain during his junior and senior seasons and voted Most Valuable Player in ‘95. He earned First Team All-PAC in ’94 & ‘95
He graduated fom Cabrini University in 1996 with his B.S. Business Administration and B.S. Marketing.
