Karen Dowd is currently in her 1st year as an assistant coach at Gwynedd Mercy University.  Karen joined the Griffin coaching staff in August 2016.  Karen will be responsible for assisting Coach Algeo with all aspects of the Women’s Lacrosse program.  She will help with guiding the Griffin defense.

Karen comes to Gwynedd Mercy University after coaching her last 8 years as Head Lacrosse Coach at Bishop McDevitt High School.  Her focus was always on improving players individual skills that can help them be successful at the next level, ensuring they understand and become team players, as well as being competitive.  Karen has produced: 3-First Team All Catholics, 4-Second Team All Catholics, and 11-Honorable Mention All Catholics.  Karen has had multiple players go on and play at the collegiate level.  Karen has had the following players play at GmercyU: Brianna Greer-2016 graduate and Lauren Mitros-currrent player.

Karen Dowd (McFadden) played high school field hockey, basketball and lacrosse at Upper Darby High School where she was a 3 year Varsity starter for all 3 sports.  After high school, Karen attended Camillus Mercy-School of Practical Nursing (LPN).  She currently is employed at Bishop McDevitt High School as the School Nurse and Head Field Hockey Coach.  Karen also is a Level-I field hockey official.
