Ben Serfass

Ben Serfass joined the Griffin staff in 2008 and quickly established himself as one of the top sprint coaches in the Mideast Region. Serfass has coached 16 sprinters to 30 All-ECAC (top 8) performances and two ECAC individual titles. Additionally, Serfass has guided Griffin stand-out Dan Dunkleberger ’12 to four All-American performances.

Coach Serfass’s 2010 outdoor male sprint corps was arguably the best in the Mideast Region. His relay teams posted the top 4x400 meter (3:19.23) and second-fastest 4x100 meter (41.92) times in the Mideast. Anthony Adams ’12 just missed the NCAA provisional standard in the 400 meter dash with a time of 48.60 – making him the fourth fastest 400 meter runner in the Region. Dunkleberger captured two All-American certificates at the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships grabbing 2nd in the 400 meter dash (47.00) and 3rd in the 200 meter dash (21.30).

In 2009 Serfass guided the women’s 4x100 meter relay team to a program record of 48.89, just .25 seconds shy of the NCAA qualifying mark. At the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship Dunkleberger became the first All-American in program history by finishing 7th in the 400 meter dash (47.95).

Serfass earned his undergraduate degree at Keystone College and his MSEd in Athletic Administration at Temple University. Serfass lives in nearby Lansdale, PA with his rescued pit bull Jack and can be reached via email at serfass.b@gmc.edu
