Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – (9/28/2026) – Gwynedd Mercy University (2-7) team generated several quality scoring opportunities Monday afternoon, placing seven of its 11 shots on goal, but the Griffins were unable to find the back of the net in a 3-0 defeat to Albright College (6-4-1) at the Gwynedd Mercy University Athletic Complex.
Griffin Highlights:
- The Griffins remained aggressive offensively throughout the opening half. Junior defender Paige Fienman (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded Gwynedd Mercy's first attempt in the 16th minute before Alexa Harr (Philadelphia, Pa.) created another opportunity five minutes later that required an Albright team save.
- On the opposite end, sophomore goalkeeper Zoe Davis (Riverside, N.J.) helped keep the Griffins within one. Davis made saves in the 33rd and 36th minutes. Gwynedd Mercy then pushed forward again late in the period, earning a corner kick from senior midfielder Bridget Cannon (Bensalem, Pa.) at 42:26 before senior midfielder Rebecca Gordon (Sicklerville, N.J.) put a shot on frame at 44:10.
- The Griffins came out of the break applying immediate pressure. Cannon delivered consecutive corner kicks in the 46th and 47th minutes before senior defenseman Elena DiPrinzio (Warrington, Pa.) sent an attempt just wide right.
- The Griffins finished with 11 shots, seven shots on goal, and four corner kicks. Fienman, DiPrinzio, Thomas, and junior midfielder Samantha Winco (Chalfont, Pa.) each recorded two attempts, while Cannon, Gordon, and Harr each placed their lone shot on target. Davis played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with six saves.
Gwynedd Mercy is back in action on Wednesday, September 30, when the team hosts Marywood University with a scheduled 4:00 p.m. kickoff.
