Dallas, Pa. - (9/21/2026) - The Gwynedd Mercy University field hockey team (0-7) continued to fight through its challenging non-conference schedule Monday evening, putting forth a determined defensive effort in a 5-0 setback at Misericordia University (4-3). Goalkeeper
Kelly Weaver (Flemington, N.J.) continued her strong season, anchored the Griffins with a 13 saves while Gwynedd Mercy limited the Cougars to just one goal through the first half.
Griffin Highlights
- The Cougars applied pressure from the opening whistle, earning seven penalty corners and putting nine shots toward the Griffin cage during the opening quarter. Weaver answered the challenge repeatedly, making seven saves in the first quarter alone before the Cougars finally broke through at the 11:21 mark.
- Gwynedd Mercy's defensive resolve continued into the second quarter. Misericordia added just two saves to Weaver's total during the period, allowing Gwynedd Mercy to head into halftime trailing by only one goal.
- The Red and Gold earned its lone penalty corner of the contest during the fourth quarter, continuing to look for an offensive opportunity until the final whistle. Misericordia earned 15 penalty corners, including 11 in the opening half, but Gwynedd Mercy's defense consistently worked to prevent those opportunities from turning into an early runaway.
Gwynedd Mercy will return home Wednesday, September 23, when the Griffins welcome Manhattanville University to the Athletic Complex for a 4:00 p.m. game.
