Glenside, Pa.- (9/16/2026) — The Gwynedd Mercy University field hockey team continued to battle through a challenging non-conference schedule Wednesday evening, showing determination throughout a 6-0 setback at Arcadia University. The Griffins held the Knights scoreless through the opening quarter and goalkeeper Kelly Weaver (Flemington, N.J.) turned in a strong 17-save performance to keep Gwynedd Mercy within reach throughout the contest.
Griffin Highlights
- Gwynedd Mercy kept Arcadia off the scoreboard through the opening 15 minutes despite the Knights earning nine penalty corners in the first quarter. Arcadia opened the scoring with 25:56 remaining in the second quarter before adding two goals late in the third. The Knights scored three times in the fourth quarter to close out the contest.
- Junior goalkeeper Kelly Weaver made 17 saves on 23 shots on goal, including a dozen stops in the third quarter, to anchor the Griffin defense.
- Morgan Hoban (Cinnaminson, N.J.) put Gwynedd Mercy's lone shot on goal, while the Griffins generated two penalty corners and three total shots.
- Gwynedd Mercy continued to create opportunities late, earning a penalty corner in the fourth quarter and keeping its pressure on the Arcadia defense.
Gwynedd Mercy will look to build on Wednesday's effort when the Griffins return to action Saturday, September 19, at Ramapo College. The non-conference contest is scheduled for 12 p.m. in Mahwah, New Jersey.
