On the opposite end, the Griffin back line remained organized, limiting the Saints' ability to capitalize on their opportunities.

- Gwynedd Mercy came out of halftime looking to build on its defensive momentum and immediately generated two offensive opportunities. Junior midfielder Anna Nicosia (Columbus, N.J.) registered a shot at 48:13 before Gordon followed just 18 seconds later with an attempt on goal, forcing Dufour to make another save. The quick offensive response gave the Griffins an opportunity to take the lead early in the second half.
- Davis played the full 90 minutes in goal and was credited with six saves against a Marymount attack that produced 25 shots. The Griffins' defensive effort was particularly strong in the opening half.
