Fourth-Quarter Spark Not Enough for Griffins to Top Aggies
Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (9/3/25) - It was a tough afternoon for the Gwynedd Mercy University Griffins as they lost to the Delaware Valley University (1-0) in a 3-0 game. The Aggies started the game strong and were able to convert to their first goal just 3:20 minutes into the game. Gwynedd Mercy had difficulty shooting in the first three quarters of play, and Abby LePage (Cinnaminson, N.J.) took the Red and Gold's first shot of the day after a corner from Morgan Hoban (Cinnaminson, N.J.) (48:57). The fourth quarter continued to be more well-matched, and junior defender Lillie Uttenreither (Bel Air, Md.) finished the Griffins' shooting with a shot that was saved by the Aggies.
Griffin Highlights:
- In her season debut, Kelly Weaver (Flemington, N.J.) played the entire game and snagged seven saves.
- The Aggies were able to edge out the Griffins in penalty corners 9-8. Seven out of eight of the Griffins' corners occurred in the final quarter of play.
- Gwynedd Mercy's play improved significantly in the second half, with fewer fouls (30-18) and increased shots (5-0) respectively.
Gwynedd Mercy University continues their schedule on Saturday, September 6, when they host Elmira College for a 12:00 p.m. contest.
