Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (5/2/2025) - Needing a series victory and some outside help, Gwynedd Mercy University (13-25, 3-12 AEC) traveled to Marywood University (16-21, 5-10 AEC) looking for a series victory and punching their tickets into the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Championship. The Red and Gold, unfortunately, were unable to pick up the series win against the Pacers and fell in game two (5-4) and game three (8-5), ending their 2025 season. Coming off a career performance, sophomore pitcher Michael Inglisa (Delran, N.J.) looked to build on his previous outing. Inglisa pitched a complete game (six innings) allowing nine hits, five earned runs, three walks, and two strikeouts in the loss (3-5). Sophomore pitcher Patrick Talley (Collingswood, N.J.) started on the mound for the final game of the 2025 season for Gwynedd Mercy pitching just one inning allowing three hits, two runs, and a walk in the loss (3-4).
Griffin Highlights:
Game One:
- Down 5-0 going into the sixth inning, the Griffins would need to dig deep and produce some runs. Junior infielder Jimmy DeCarlo (Ridley Park, Pa.) did just that with a leadoff home run, recording his first in his collegiate career and putting the Red and Gold in the score column (5-1). With the bases loaded, senior outfielder Cooper Root (Runnemede, N.J.) hit a two-run-batted-in (RBI) single to center field, putting the team within striking distance. (5-3).
- Going into the final inning (seventh), junior infielder A.J. Johnson (Lavallette, N.J.) hit an RBI sacrifice fly, bringing home senior infielder Ricky Templeton (West Deptford, N.J.) (5-4).
Game Two:
- In his final contest as a member of Gwynedd Mercy, senior catcher Justin Smith (Broomall, Pa.) worked a professional at bat with the bases loaded in the fourth and drew a walk cutting the Pacers lead in half (2-1).
- Down 8-1 going into the seventh, the Griffins put up a four-spot with RBIs from Templeton, Root, DeCarlo, and senior outfielder Sam Junker (Ambler, Pa.) (8-5).
Gwynedd Mercy University ends its 2025 season with a record of 13-25 overall and 3-12 in conference play.
