Auburndale, Fl. - (3/9/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy University (4-6) continued their play at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational, taking on the College of St. Scholastica (2-4) in a Sunday morning matchup. The Red and Gold struggled to solve the Saints' pitching staff as the only run that crossed home plate for the Griffins was a run-batted-in (RBI) single to left field from junior outfielder Chris Nodeland (Hamilton, N.J.), scoring freshman infielder Deven Ross (Lansdale, Pa.). Gwynedd Mercy would lose the contest 10-1 and fall to 1-2 on their spring break.
Griffin Highlights:
- Freshman pitcher Connor Hafto (Washington Township, N.J.) got a career-high five innings of work against St. Scholastica. Hafto allowed just two earned runs, a walk, and a new career-high four strikeouts in his outing.
- Ross was the only member of the Griffins to finish with a multi-hit game (2-for-4) with a single in the first and another in the second.
Gwynedd Mercy University is back in action Tuesday, March 11, when Gwynedd Mercy takes on Bethany College with a scheduled 3:45 p.m. first pitch.
