CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

The winner of the AEC First Round game will travel to top-seeded Neumann University for an AEC Semifinal contest on Tuesday, November 4. #2 Marywood University and #3 Marymount University will make up the other AEC Semifinal, which is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff on the same Tuesday. The AEC Men's Soccer Championship will take place at the home of the highest remaining seed on Saturday, November 8.

Gwynedd Mercy University (7-10, 3-4) and Saint Elizabeth University (4-6-4, 3-3-1) opened their 2025 conference seasons with an October-4 contest at the Eagles' campus soccer field. Saint Elizabeth University was first on the scoreboard with a goal in the 34th minute (1-0, 33:36). The Red and Gold responded with additional pressure and the pay back came in the 42nd minute, when the Eagles evened the affair with an own goal; 1-1 (41:25). Tension carried over into the second half as sophomore midfielder Gunnar Christensen (Finksburg, Md.) rung one off the Saint Elizabeth University crossbar in the 47th minute (46:01) and the Eagles earned a series of corner kicks ten minutes later (56:51, 57:36, 58:00). Chances came and went for each side, but the ender came early in the 90th minute as Saint Elizabeth University capitalized on a failed Griffin corner kick to net the game winner with just 32 second remaining; 2-1 (89:28). Junior forward Devario Gboho (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the Red and Gold offense with three shots, while graduate goalkeeper Andrew Roberto (Churchville, Pa.) totaled five saves in the loss.

During the 2025 regular season, senior forward Braedon Kehan (Warrington, Pa.) has stood as Gwynedd Mercy University's top playmaker with team-highs in goals (8), points (19), shots (53), and shot-on-goal (30 SOG); among his league peers, he ranks third in all four categories. He scored Griffin game-winners against Penn State Berks (W, 4-1 on Sept. 29), Penn State Schuylkill (W, 11-0 on Oct. 4), and Pratt Institute (W, 2-0 on Oct. 8). His efforts are being supported by double-digit point performances from Gboho (10 points; 4 goals, 2 assists), junior midfielder Luke O'Donnell (Glenside, Pa.) (10; 4, 2), and senior midfielder C.J. Clyde (Southampton, Pa.) (10; 5, 0) and timely contributions from newcomers; defenseman Connor Piffath (Forest Hill, Md.) (9; 4, 1) and forwards, Jackson Stuetz (Willow Grove, Pa.) (8; 3, 2) and Mava Mboko Celestin (Erie, Pa.) (6; 3, 0).

Senior defenseman Colin Stocklin (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Roberto were the only Griffins to appear on the AEC Men's Soccer Weekly Reports in 2025. Stocklin was named to the AEC Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll on October 27 after recording Gwynedd Mercy University's game-winning goal (2-1, 51:55) at Immaculata University (W, 3-1 on Oct. 25), while Roberto garnered Weekly Honor Roll appearances on September 22, October 13, and October 20. Roberto has totaled 63 saves (138 shots faced) in 10 games played (10 games started); he owns a 6-4 record and one shutout with 1.88 goals-against average (GAA) and a .788 save percentage (SV%).
